Looking to furnish your Modern home? Check out some of Ballard’s best furniture shops:

Ballard Consignment

Ballard Consignment

Located inside a bright red building near the corner of Leary Avenue and Market Street, Ballard Consignment boasts 30,000 square feet of vintage and new furniture, décor, and clothing. Known for an eclectic collection and fair pricing, this expansive store is likely to carry just what you’ve been looking for, whether it’s a midcentury modern sectional, a funky table lamp, a walnut sideboard, or a retro mint green kitchen cabinet.

Digs

Digs

Owned by husband-and- wife team Ben and Gretchen Knudsen, Digs gets good marks for customer service. The high-design shop offers furniture, décor, lighting, gifts, and more, often with a Scandinavian influence (this is Ballard, after all). Inside, look for fiberglass chairs in a huge array of colors, pretty gadgets for the kitchen, lots of ceramic animals, Bubble Lamps from George Nelson (the collection was designed in 1947), and even plenty of nursery furniture for the modern baby in your life.

Space Oddity Vintage Furniture Gallery

Space Oddity

For furniture from the 1950s through 1980s, pop into Space Oddity for a step back in time. Owner Todd Werny sifts through thrift stores, auctions, estate sales, and garage sales to bring the perfect pieces back to his own store, which makes up for its small size with a big focus on unique finds. Think brightly colored credenzas, medical stools, and “living art” created from seaweed. Speaking of unique, Space Oddity takes a cue from the restaurant biz and offers a two-hour “happy hour” every afternoon, complete with special savings.
